The Research Bioinformatician II (RBII) performs general bioinformatics analysis and software support for projects involving in omics, and interacts with investigators to identify research problems, find appropriate software tools and recognize national biological databases and online resources for omic data. About GREGoR Stanford Site : GREGoR Stanford Site (GSS), is one of 6 sites in the National Institutes of Health (NIH)’s Genomics Research to Elucidate the Genetics of Rare disease (GREGoR) Consortium. The GSS (https://gregor.stanford.edu/) mission is to provide a platform for functional genomics research and validation to improve diagnosis in Mendelian disease through integrated analysis of... multi-omics data. GSS is led by co-PIs Dr. Stephen Montgomery (Department of Pathology), Dr. Matthew Wheeler (Division of Cardiovascular Medicine) and Dr. Jon Bernstein (Division of Medical Genetics). At GSS, research participants who remain undiagnosed after exome sequencing will undergo short read and long read genome sequencing, transcriptome sequencing, methylation assays, metabolomics and/or lipidomics assays. State-of-the art computational algorithms and new methods will be applied and developed to prioritize the variants and genes. The data will be analyzed in a secure and scalable manner using a HIPAA compliant cloud platform like AnVIL and Google Cloud Platform (GCP). Novel causal variants and genes will be validated through state-of-the-art targeted approaches including massively parallel reporter assays, induced-pluripotent stem cell assays and CRISPR engineered cellular and mouse models. About the Position: We are seeking a highly talented and motivated Bioinformatics Engineer to support our GSS pipeline and data analysis team. Your role will focus on the development of pipelines and tools for comprehensive analysis of large amounts of molecular data generated by the GSS, with special emphasis on genomics, transcriptomics, and metabolomics datasets. You will also establish and support cloud infrastructure for storage and computation of the multi-omics data. An opportunity has arisen in the Science & Technology -Human Biology team for a qualified scientist to join at our R&D Center located in Trumbull, Connecticut, USA. The role is ideally suited to an energetic, self-motivated, resourceful research scientist with ability to work on their own initiative and with strong people and communication skills. Expertise in molecular and/or cell biology essential while experience in computational biology/bioinformatics is strongly preferred. Key Responsibilities • Design and execute research experiments,perform data analysis and insight generation to support Innovation projects/activities in the Skin Rejuvenation Programme. • Continuously develop broad knowledge in skin aging following current literature and attending scientific conference to advance research programmes and capabilities and fill technology pipeline. • Manage data integration and insight extraction from large transcriptomic, epigenetic, and proteomic datasets. • Actively evaluate new analysis, modeling, and experimental methodologies and establish relevant capabilities within our program. • Leverage the best of both academia and industry, including assessing and working with independent service providers, to support the generation of new insights and development of novel technologies. • Document procedures and results in compliance with Electronic Notebook guidelines • Prepare verbal and written status reports Skills/Experience/Qualifications • APhD degree or Master’s degree with 3+ years relevant experience in Cell Biology, Molecular Biology, Computational Biology/Bioinformatics, or a related discipline • Expertise in molecular & cellular biology, tissue engineering, or regenerative medicine and most preferably in skin biology. • Extensive experience with mammalian cell culture, preferably skin cells. Experience with standard biochemical and molecular biology techniques, including RNA isolation, qPCR, microscopy, ELISAs, and/or quantitative protein analysis. • Ability to design and executeexperiments in cellular in vitro models, particularly skin cells, is required and highly desired in higher order models. • In-depth knowledge of common bioinformatic tools such as those for differential gene expression analysis, gene set enrichment analysis,pathway analysis and visualization (e.g. IPA) • Aptitude for communicating complex biological and computational concepts to non-scientists is essential. Capable of presenting scientific results to multidisciplinary teams and key stakeholders. • Strong work ethic and self-motivated with ability to work independently and as a member of highly collaborative team • Excellent time and project management skills and ability to work on multiple projects Work Level 1C: Pay: The pay range for this position is $83,200 to $124,700. Research Computing at Boston Children’s supports basic, translational, and clinical research by providing researchers with access to digital tools and technologies. Our computing environment consists of high-performance computing clusters, virtual machines, PetaByte-scale high-performance storage and cloud platforms. We work with BCH scientists to develop solutions in support of cutting-edge... research ranging from lattice light-sheet microscopy to CryoEM, genomics, and informatics. The role will be responsible for providing routine as well as leading-edge support for researchers who have single-cell RNA-seq, single-cell ATAC-seq, spatial transcriptomics, bulk RNA-seq, ChIP-seq and methylation data to investigate human genetics and cortical development and other human and mouse diseases as well as with other pediatric scientists at BCH. The primary responsibilities will be building pipelines for the analysis, integration and sharing of these data. The candidate will analyze, integrate different types of next-generation sequencing data and interpret the results and will have the opportunity to publish high-profile papers with prominent authorship depending on the intellectual contribution. They should have enthusiasm for developing collaborative relationships and a desire to foster the use of bioinformatics data in research studies.
