Senior/Principal Scientist, Bioinformatics
Senior/Principal Scientist, Bioinformatics Skyhawk is looking for a talented and inspired Senior/Principal Bioinformatics Scientist to join our Bioinformatics team. In this role you will report directly to the Director of Bioinformatics and be responsible for advancing RNA-targeting drug discovery with computational tools. The primary responsibilities of the role include developing algorithms... software packages, and analysis pipelines for various omics data. Applicants should be self-starters and excited about the opportunity to operate in a multi-faceted bioinformatics function within a growing, fast-paced company. Role and Responsibilities (include, but are not limited to): • Independently develop algorithms, software packages, analysis pipelines, and notebooks to process, analyze, visualize, and interpret proprietary and public omics data. • Analyze and integrate RNA-seq, Amplicon-seq, Nanopore, eCLIP, proteomics, and other data to characterize the selectivity and mechanism of action for novel RNA-targeting small molecules. • Design and implement novel analytic methods and metadata management tools for interrogating high-throughput screening NGS data to identify novel chemical matters for new RNA targets. • Provide computational support at various stages of preclinical drug discovery. • Interact with counterparts from discovery biology, chemistry, high-throughput screening, data management, and IT to account for their insights and needs. • Manage project timelines with internal personnel and external vendors. You have a solid track record in bioinformatics service provision, excellence in communication skills and written and verbal reporting. Job Description: Job Summary: The Bioinformatics Core Director will have strategic and tactical responsibility for the operations of the core, consultation, recruiting, overseeing core support staff and provision of leadership in developing core resources and providing research support and training for research faculty and staff at BIDMC. The Core Director is expected to create deliverables that could serve as standards for quality and innovation in broader communities, building informatics tools for data management, omics and imaging analyses within the reality of clinical data integration. Frontier Medicines is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior/Principal Scientist in Bioinformatics or Computational Biology to join an emerging Bioinformatics group embedded in our growing Data Sciences team. The ideal candidate has proven experience in the analysis of high-dimensional omics data derived from multiple platforms (such as RNA-seq, Chip-seq, WES/WGS, MS-based proteomics... metabolomics, RPPA, etc.) The successful candidate will lead the conceptualization and implementation of analytical strategies and in developing and implementing novel algorithms to further advance our innovative proteome-wide profiling pipeline. This role requires creativity and ingenuity in developing analysis methods, including machine learning/AI type algorithms on our proprietary data to generate actionable insights. Bioinformatics and Molecular Data team is a growing group at the Informatics and Analytics Department (I&A) of Dana-Farber Cancer Institute (DFCI). The team addresses unmet needs for bioinformatics, data management, data mining and analysis across research, clinical, and operational units. It accelerates use of bioinformatics and data science methods, data, and tools within DFCI, bridging the gap... between research and clinical practice and helping design and implement operational solutions. The group encompasses expertise in bioinformatics, data science, machine learning, and software engineering. It works with some of the most prominent research and clinical DFCI programs, from basic research to translational research, to clinical diagnostics and operations. We look for an intelligent, hard-working, and dynamic individual to fill the role of Bioinformatics Scientist in the team. The successful candidate will support key initiatives relying on genomic data, have the ability to lead projects and potentially, in the future, may lead other people within the team. Overview POSITION SUMMARY... Under the direction of a member of the faculty, the Bioinformatician is responsible for the design, development, evaluation and iterative modification of a technical infrastructure to expedite the quantitative evaluation of data resulting from studies that are laboratory based. The position will entail the establishment and maintenance of applicable in-house bioinformatics resources and interaction with individual lab members on customized research projects, as well independent projects that are the solely computational. This is an open-rank posting (there are 4 levels of Bioinformatician) - candidates will be hired into the level commensurate with their experience. Responsibilities ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Bioinformatician I: • Establish general bioinformatics resources for day-to-day use by members of the laboratory • In collaboration with a faculty member, generate customized programming solutions to improve user interaction with available bioinformatics resources • Assist in the implementation of programs for microarray analysis, high-throughput sequencing data analysis, cis regulatory motif identification, and multi-genome protein motif searches • Local establishment and customization of model organism genomic databases and tools for batch sequence analysis utilizing these resources • Interpret and present study results in support of laboratory members • Provide tabular and written summaries of approaches and analyses in a form suitable for inclusion in manuscripts or grant applications, as well as media for presentation at scientific meetings • Develop and implement custom bioinformatics programming solutions in collaboration with lab as necessary • Coordinate and collaborate with other research computing expertise at the Medical School as necessary • Participate in conference calls and data management meetings as needed • Perform other duties as required.
