Bioinformatics Scientist, Cancer Genomics
The New York Genome Center (NYGC) is looking for a highly motivated individual to join our computational biology group. As a Bioinformatics Scientist, you will be responsible for the analyses and interpretation of cancer genome samples sequenced at NYGC. This includes the maintenance, benchmarking, and continuous improvement of our analysis pipelines, as well as participation in downstream... analyses by applying existing tools and algorithms to analyze cancer sequencing data, collaborating with NYGC staff to develop new tools and with external investigators on the integration of genomics results within their scientific projects. This position will report to the Director of Computational Biology. Job duties will include, but are not limited to: • Contribute to setup, management and maintenance of genomic data analysis pipelines. • Analyze sequencing data using the established pipeline(s) either already in place at NYGC or state-of-the-art workflows developed by others. • Develop and implement innovative computational approaches for the analysis of large sequence datasets from NGS technologies. • Assist, collaborate and consult with external and internal researchers on the analyses and interpretation of cancer NGS data. • Interpret and present the results of the computational and statistical analyses to collaborators and coworkers. • Collaborate with the software engineering team to ensure pipeline upgrades and new pipelines are properly implemented in our production workflow manager. • Mentor Bioinformatics Analysts and Programmers. • Help identify relevant funding opportunities interests and participate in grant writing. • Publish developed methods and scientific findings in scientific journals and give presentations at conferences. • Participate in community outreach. • Stay current on innovations in DNA sequencing technologies and analyses. About the New York Genome Center The New York Genome Center (NYGC) is an independent, nonprofit, academic research organization dedicated to advancing genomic research. Bioinformatics Cloud Software Engineer
The Position Bioinformatics Cloud Software Engineer... Genentech seeks a talented and highly motivated Software Engineer to develop a cloud based genomic analysis system in support of our Translational Genomics efforts. Our Translational Genomics efforts span the interface of human genetics, functional genomics, molecular biology, disease model engineering, tissue and cellular profiling, and advanced computational methodology. The primary focus of this position is to extend our existing orchestration system for large scale genomic analysis workflows into the cloud to enable Genentech researchers to scale the throughput of their genomic and genetic analyses as needed. Solutions will need to integrate cloud native concepts with microservice based components in an existing software ecosystem. A successful candidate will collaborate with interdisciplinary teams of Software Engineers, DevOps engineers and Computational Biology Scientists to design and implement cloud native software solutions with an emphasis on service-oriented architecture and containerized workflows. The work includes requirements gathering, design and architecture, as well as backend and frontend development. The candidate will use best practices of continuous integration and software delivery to accommodate the fast pace of innovation in Genentech Research. We are seeking a highly motivated team member to contribute to the ongoing effort to evaluate and operationalize NGS and bioinformatics aspects of individualized medicine manufacturing. You will conduct bioinformatics analysis to support ongoing process development, refinement of the analysis pipelines and clinical manufacturing operations. The successful candidate is expected to effectively communicate and develop collaborative relationships with key stakeholders. Once a strategic framework for future manufacturing is in place, you will play a critical role in process development/implementation to enable commercial manufacturing of next generation therapeutics. Responsibilities • You will provide bioinformatics support to ongoing NGS process and assay development activities for individualized therapies. • You will collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to develop process understanding of existing pipelines and algorithms. • You will provide computational/bioinformatics support as needed across the broader PTC community. • You will author technical and validation reports for bioinformatics and assay development activities. • You will provide strategic and operational support needed for bioinformatics functions within Genentech’s individualized medicines program and broader PTC. • You will play a critical role in enabling a new manufacturing paradigm for Roche/Genentech that includes next-generation sequencing and advanced bioinformatics techniques to deliver individualized immunotherapeutics to patients. Qualifications The ideal candidate will meet the following qualifications: • Ph.D or MS in bioinformatics or a related discipline. 3+ years industry experience in bioinformatics analysis. • Expertise coding in Python, R or Matlab and using version control (git, svn) • Previous experience using and developing bioinformatics pipelines for NGS data analysis (WES, WGS, RNAseq, scRNASeq, amplicon seq etc), including profiling accuracy of tools/algorithms. • Experience authoring technical documentation, in collaboration with diverse stakeholders. • Previous experience building pipelines/algorithms supporting NGS assay development is a plus. • Experience working with third generation sequencing data (Nanopore, Pacbio) is a plus. • Prior experience in bioinformatics aspects of cancer immunology is a plus. • Must be detail-oriented with excellent collaborative and organizational skills in order to manage multiple projects and meet assigned deliverables. • Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to effectively communicate with cross-functional teams. • Strategic agility and ability to adapt to the evolving personalized healthcare environment. • Comfortable working in a flexible, fast-paced team environment #ptcareers

Field Bioinformatics Specialist - US The Field Bioinformatics Specialist (FBS), preferably based in the larger San Francisco Bay Area will provide support by assisting scientists and researchers to analyze data sets.
